Summer Camp Week 2: Get Ready, Get Fit
This week’s activities were centred around healthy and active living. The week saw the children enjoying a spa experience and making their own stress balls, getting centred with yoga and singing and dancing with an onsite musical theatre experience. Their athletic abilities were tested through relay races, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts and an afternoon bowling excursion. Our little critters had a hands-on learning opportunity from the Critter World travelling show and petting zoo and once again kept cool with outdoor water play. We wrapped up the week with healthy snacking; the children made both hummus and veggie wraps to enjoy in the afternoon.
Summer Camp Week 3: Outdoor Explorers
Warm weather and sunny skies set the tone for a week of outdoor adventure and activity. The children tested their endurance with a game of Survivor along with a number of outdoor activities that included canoeing, coursing down a giant slip and slide, a wagon ride and campfire s’mores at the Willowgrove Outdoor Centre. Sketching out maps continued to lay the framework for this week of adventure along with making their own birdhouse and creating tie-dye t-shirts. And of course what would a week of adventure be without some outdoor fun which included water play, an outdoor dance party, jumping castle fun and enjoying a picnic snack in the open air. The good times kept on rolling until week’s end when the children made their own pizza to enjoy for lunch.
