St Gabriel Child Care Centres Message from our Executive Director

Winter 2021

As we embark on the new year, I am excited about what we will accomplish together as we champion the children and families we serve. Please join me in looking forward with Grace, Gratitude and Hope. One accomplishment of the past year, that I am incredibly proud of is the way our staff were able to maintain connection with our children even when they could not be together in the classroom. As you may know one of our core values is community. We understand the importance of belonging and connectedness and I feel they demonstrated this value when they went above and beyond to support our families and their children during the pandemic. The staff used Zoom calls and various platforms of social media including, HiMama, Sandbox and Instagram along with phone calls and emails. The staff did an incredible job as they stood by the families we serve. The second accomplishment is the resiliency to rise above all the curves that have been thrown at us in this ever-changing climate. As we prepared to gradually reopen, the staff were resilient in finding ways to connect with children while keeping their distance. They found new ways to present our program and they demonstrated ingenuity. Our Pandemic Pioneers as I called them, were the first ones back on the front lines with the children. They overcame apprehension and put forth an engaging program based on the interests and inquiries of the children in their care. They tackled difficult conversations and questions around heightened disinfecting processes and did it without causing alarm. I am so proud of our team, they connected with our families during the pandemic and showed an abundancy of resiliency and teamwork from start to finish. In closing and with an abundance of gratitude… To the parents, thank you for trusting us and for your cooperation, patience, transparency, understanding and compliance with the ever-changing guidelines. This past year has brought much upheaval however our team of inspiring caregivers have risen above it all and have been and continue to be champions of the children and families in our care. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to each one of our incredible team at St. Gabriel Child Care Centres for their resilience, perseverance, and spirit they provide in the essential professional work that they do. Over the last seven months they have lived the theme of Rising Up! Thank you for rising to lead, to follow, to collaborate, to mentor, to inspire, to reflect, to persevere, to hope, to be resilient, to be ingenious, to be kind, to be a hero. Thank you for being St. Gabriel’s Champions and for always Rising Up! I invite parents, board members and staff to continue to be grateful and hopeful and envision a brighter future. At this time, it is an ever-changing situation in which we will persevere and continue to champion the families we serve. I look back at 2020 with immense gratitude and look forward with great hope. In partnership with you, Rosanna Lacalamita Masci

Welcome Back to Our School Age Program!

Updates on COVID- 19 Protocols

Before and After School Programs will resume on February 16th, 2021. We have missed you all so much and look forward to seeing your smiling faces again.

There have been some changes to our operational guidelines as provided by the Ministry of Education. All children in grade one and older will be required to wear a face mask. Masks will also be required while outdoors especially when social distancing is not possible. Screening guidelines have been revised. Our previous process was in line with these changes and therefore, there will be no changes to screening at this time. The Ministry of Education continues to encourage and recommend masks for children over two years of age, however at this time they are not mandatory. We remind all our families to provide online screening a half hour before arrival and ask that all parents wear masks when picking up or dropping off their children. If you wish to speak to your child’s Early Childhood Educator, please do not hesitate to reach out to us so we can set up a time for a call.

Fees As you may be aware of, all Before and After School fee withdrawals have been paused as of January 29th,2021 and will re-commence a minimum of two weeks after we reopen our programs. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 905-850-3358 or email us at info@stgabrielchildcare.com.
